What Happened on November 28, 1988

The apparition today was at 10:30 p.m. The evening apparitions began to be heavily attended. One reason our founder suspected that Our Lady often came in the evenings is because there were many local people who wanted to attend the apparitions but because they had to work during the day they couldn’t come for the morning apparitions. The 10:30 evening apparitions afforded families the ability to go home after school and work, have their dinner together, and be able to come out without causing a lot of rearranging of their schedules. Because the traffic was so heavy on the county highway where our founder lived, people had to walk sometimes several miles away from the Field which they were able to do and still have plenty of time to arrive for the apparition at 10:30 p.m. Those were all logistical concerns for the people who felt the call to come to experience Our Lady’s apparitions. However, spiritually, Our Lady was also following the similiar pattern in Medjugorje when She called the prayer group up the mountain for evening apparitions on Monday and Friday nights. These nighttime apparitions are among some of the most beautiful apparitions of Our Lady for pilgrims who have attended these apparitions. So, too, the nighttime apparitions here in Alabama hold fond memories in the hearts of those who braved the cold and knelt on the rock solid frozen ground under a starry sky to recieve Our Lady’s blessing.

As had become Her pattern, on this day of November 28, Our Lady came and was very happy. She prayed over everybody. Marija recommended every person present to Our Lady and She prayed The Lord’s Prayer and the Glory Be. Our Lady blessed everyone before returning to Heaven. After eight straight days of giving a special message, today was the first time, outside of the first day Our Lady appeared, that She did not give a message since Her arrival to our founder’s home.

Pilgrims walking in the Field

On Thanksgiving Day, November 24, 1988, one man from Miami, hearing about the events that were taking place with Medjugorje visionary being in Alabama, made the long trip from Florida to see if there was any validity to these apparitions. What he experienced in the Field on that day changed his life forever. He was moved to such a deep conversion that ever since then on Thanksgiving Day he has called our founder to thank him for allowing him to be present in the Field. Over the past 23 years, he has never missed one Thanksgiving Day in making this phone call. He also began going to daily Mass after his experience in the Field and has never weakened in his commitment to attend Mass daily. His name is JP, pictured here to the left of the photo, and is a dear friend of Our Lady’s mission here. Medjugorje visionary, Marija, is in the black sweater to the right of the photo on her way to have her apparition in the Field.
