Some have said Our Lady of Medjugorje’s messages are simplistic, which is understandable after only one reading. Some have said Our Lady’s messages are all the same. Our Lady does not seem to think that; in fact, Her messages indicate that there are mysteries to be discovered in Her messages.

“...Only by prayer can you understand and accept my messages and practice them in your life...”
 

Indeed, there is mystery in these messages and the clue to discovering the mysteries is prayer.

Throughout the 60s and 70s, the saying, “If it feels good, do it,” was popular. It seemed the devil roamed with freedom. Then astoundingly in 1981, Our Lady indicated, “A great war is going to take place.” Our Lady Queen of Peace of Medjugorje announces to the earth…A declaration of war.

August 2, 1981

“...A great struggle is about to unfold. A struggle between my Son and satan. Human souls are at stake.”

As with many of Our Lady’s messages, this message, read with prayer and contemplation, is so full of information that one, after thinking about it, realizes we all are underestimating the magnitude of Medjugorje.

In World War II, countries fought for domination. Few complained about being drafted; indeed, many volunteered freely from this country (USA). They left their jobs, their businesses, their homes to fight. There was no price too high to pay. The volunteerism was so strong in this country it was as if Marshall Law had been declared. Factories changed over to producing arms, and the whole country geared up for war without reservations.

Now…in 1981, Our Lady of Medjugorje states a full-fledged war is about to start between Heaven and hell – not for countries, but for the souls of the earth caught in the middle – War of the Worlds. As with World War I and II, there is a battle plan with this war also. For three years Our Lady spoke of… “The plan;” “Pray for the plan;” “Pray that satan does not thwart my plan;” “Pray for the plan my Son and I have;” “Pray that God’s plan may be realized.” Then after three years of speaking of this mysterious plan, She reveals it.

January 25, 1987

"Dear children, behold, also today I want to call you to start living a new life as of today. Dear children, I want you to comprehend that God has chosen each one of you, in order to use you in a great plan for the salvation of mankind. You are not able to comprehend how great your role is in God’s design. Therefore, dear children, pray so that in prayer you may be able to comprehend what God’s plan is in your regard. I am with you in order that you may be able to bring it about in all its fullness. Thank you for having responded to my call."

God is seeking soldiers to draft – privates, captains, generals. Our Lady tells us our role is “great.” One cannot give enough to this plan. We cannot do enough to live the messages. We should be willing to give everything and abandon ourselves completely because in today’s War of the Worlds, our homes, our money, and our businesses are not important – only that we love.

All this does not mean to leave your state in life. If you’ve been given riches, give richly to the plan. If you are talented, give it abundantly to this plan. If you are a housewife, give Our Lady the ammunition She needs by praying at your kitchen sink. Everyone has a great role. Remember, Our Lady did more for the Kingdom of God by being a Mother than all the angels, prophets, and mankind together.

Our Lady Queen of Peace of Medjugorje is interested for each of us to have a special peace within us. This peace is reflected through our countenance, and it will identify whose side we are on. Heaven will win if we write the messages of Our Lady on our hearts and live them.

When we use the word “war” in this newsletter, we do not mean, of course, aggressiveness. We define “war” meaning the sense of mobilization that one needs in his struggle with the devil.

We have to step in combat against satan, and we have to be ready for sacrifice in this spiritual war. In a message given to the Medjugorje Prayer Group through Jelena, who receives interior locutions, Our Lady said:

“…darkness reigns over the whole world…”

We ought to be conscious of this tragic situation of the world today, then we should step in against satan. How? Our Lady tells us:

August 8, 1985

"Dear children, today I call you especially now to advance against satan by means of prayer. satan wants to work still more now that you know he is at work. Dear children, put on the armor for battle and with the Rosary in your hand, defeat him!…"

Our Lady uses words “armor” and “battle” on purpose so we may realize that the activity of satan is like the invasion of a country by a foreign army. he takes strongholds and destroys. his only purpose is actually to use us for his purposes, and his main purpose is destruction. Our Lady of Medjugorje gives us five weapons against satan:

1. Prayer (purification of the spirit)
2. Fasting (purification of the body)
3. Reading of the Bible (purification of the intelligence)
4. Confession (to make God’s love grow in us)
5. Holy Communion (to make God’s love grow in us)
 

This is Our Lady’s plan on earth for the salvation of mankind. What we have to understand is the planetary aspect of the Medjugorje plan.

This war is the war of love against destruction. The goal of this struggle is the reign of love. The Blessed Mother tells us:

November 20, 1986

To Marija:

“...You know that I love you and that I burn out of love for you. Therefore, dear children, you also decide for love so that you will burn out of love and daily experience God’s love. Dear children, decide for love so that love prevails in all of you, but not human love, rather God’s love...”

We have to know that love is our first weapon against satan. Love is the thing he hates and fears the most. Our armor is the fatal weapon of love and prayer against the ruler of darkness!

November 25, 1987

Our Lady says that we have to pray:

“…that satan does not entice you with his pride and deceptive strength…”

satan’s weapon is also passivity or indifference “that destroy peace and prayer.” That means that the devil is creating a certain inactivity and laziness that attacks the root of conversion; we have to be mobilized always. The victory happens through love and living in holiness.

July 10, 1986

“...today I am calling you to holiness. Without holiness you cannot live. Therefore, with love overcome every sin and with love overcome all the difficulties which are coming to you. Dear children, I beseech you to live love within yourselves...”

In this battle of the “worlds” against satan, Our Lady puts a weapon in our hands, the only instrument against the powers of darkness, love!

July 31, 1986

“...Let your only instrument always be love. By love turn everything into good which satan desires to destroy and possess. Only that way will you be completely mine and I shall be able to help you...”

Once one understands the plans God and Our Lady have for the world today, one cannot overemphasize, overstress, or exaggerate them. We are in the midst of something of such magnitude that there are few other times in human history to compare it to.
