It is amazing if one were to count how many times Our Lady mentions prayer. Just to do a simple calculation, our message search returns 880 different messages in which Our Lady has mentioned prayer. That is not the number of times prayer is mentioned, that is only the messages themselves. To put that in perspective, there has been 468 months since June 1981. This calculation is equivalent to Our Lady talking about prayer, about twice a month, every month since She has started appearing. Does prayer sound like it might be an important topic to discuss?

Prayer. It is the topic that can make someone be interested, or walk away, or nodd off to sleep, or say ‘yes, I have heard this already,’ or even be overly opinionated about what kind of prayers are important. However one looks at it, prayer is very important in the agenda of Our Lady. Medjugorje inner-locutionist Marijana said:
The only way we can open our hearts is through the prayer we say everyday and with the joy of prayer; which means that we have to put prayer in the very first place in our lives. Our Lady said that all of us should understand that prayer is not something that we must do, but that it is something that we need to do. It is a necessity. Only through prayer and with prayer, can God give us inner peace; peace in our hearts, and that is what all of us are seeking.

In discussing this “necessity,” how is this part of Our Lady’s visible agenda? In the past, a Friend of Medjugorje has explained that Medjugorje is one of very few places in the world where it is common to see people praying publicly. Whether walking down the street by themselves or with others, prayer is out in the open and no one is ashamed. When a Friend of Medjugorje is in public and in how he has led the Caritas Community, wherever we are, we pray publicly together, whether the daily Rosary, or the grace before meals.
If one does not find it offensive hearing a regular conversation between two or more people at the table next to us, then one should not be offended with two or more people’s conversation with God either. Does it take guts, of course it does. Does it need to be obnoxious? No, it does not. It needs to be a sincere conversation with God, whether at a restaraunt, at the airport, on a plane, on the street, everywhere. A Friend of Medjugorje has told us that Our Lady intends for prayer to be seen publicly, not for show, but as a witness. If you are by yourself, you can pray silently, but, is it not a witness for others to see the Rosary in your hand? This week and in the coming days, we need to live this message of Our Lady, while in the grace period of the message. We will see tremendous fruit in living this visible agenda of Our Lady.
