(Caritas of Birmingham, Alabama) – On Wednesday March 11, 2020, U.S. President Donald Trump took decisive action for the safety of all Americans. This action is a temporary ban on travel from 26 countries in Europe for the next 30 days. The travel ban will be pursuant to conditions on the ground concerning the coronavirus, or China virus. As of this time, the ban does not affect the Medjugorje region, nor does it directly apply to residents of the United States. Measures will be in place for screenings if necessary. For information about the new travel ban, please read the President’s Proclamation here. We also encourage people to visit the U.S. State Department on travel advisories. As of this time, the State Department has not issued any elevated threats for the Medjugorje region.

What does this mean for Medjugorje pilgrimages? The BVM Caritas pilgrimage department is the finest in the Medjugorje world, and a Friend of Medjugorje is directly overseeing that the safety of our pilgrims is a priority. Those who have family traveling with Caritas should rest assured that we are actively monitoring the situation and being kept updated on any new developments.

On February 25, 2020, Medjugorje visionary Marija told Radio Maria:

“This virus is evil, it doesn’t come from God. I am convinced that this situation won’t last long, but for us it is an invitation to start a new life. When I heard this Coronavirus, I asked myself: ‘How can we fight him?’ As the name tells us, let’s stick to the Crown, let’s stick to the Rosary. Holy Rosary has won on a thousand occasions. Let’s start with the Rosary in our families. May the Lord free us from this fear… Jesus said that certain evil spirits can only be removed by prayer and fasting. Even for this virus we start praying and fasting.”

A Friend of Medjugorje states concerning the travel ban:

“Our Lady’s latest 25th message from Medjugorje, She told us: ‘As nature fights in silence for new life…’ Though the situation may be concerning, we are comforted by Our Lady’s words, and Our Lady has said to not be in fear. We will see new life coming out of this. This is the message which we wish to convey to all the Medjugorje world, that God is in control and we are not to fear.”

Those with questions about upcoming pilgrimages with Caritas are asked to direct their calls to BVM Caritas Pilgrimages at 205-672-2000, extension 218 or 219.

We all need Jesus! And our blessed Mother! Mother pray for us! Pray for the World! Dear seers pray for me and my family, I’ve been sick!

  3. Hortencia Núñez Villalon

Regarding Marija’s words, it calls my attention how she prays for us “May the Lord free us from this fear” instead of “not to get sick from coronavirus” O Mother help us. Help the entire world not to fear.
