Medjugorje Mary’s Eve – Our Lady Prays Over Youth and Gives Message

Medjugorje Mary’s Eve – Our Lady Prays Over Youth and Gives Message

  August 4, 2014 A.D.

Pilgrims began arriving on the mountain in prayer before 7:00 P.M. tonight. The mountain, an amphitheater hosting the Woman of Revelation, awaited Her arrival in peace and prayer. The peaceful silence was broken only when songs began to be sung for over an hour preceding the Rosary. The Rosary began just after 10:00 P.M., with all gathered praying the Joyful and then Sorrowful mysteries. Youth and other pilgrims flooded the mountain just before the Rosary started, arriving with joy in hushed anticipation of Our Lady’s arrival. Pilgrims continued to ascend the mountain right up to the moment Our Lady appeared. Our Lady came after the 4th Sorrowful mystery ended, with the apparition lasting 9 minutes and 20 seconds. Many knelt during the apparition with a peaceful, prayerful silence on the mountain, which extended after the apparition ended, as the words of Our Lady were read in Croatian, Italian and English.

As in a vigil, today, the eve of Our Lady’s birthday, Mary’s Eve, candles in the form of flashlights descend the mountain with pilgrims taking the light of Our Lady’s words in their hearts and out to the world. The following is Ivan’s description of the apparition:

“Also today after the meeting with Our Lady I would like to briefly describe and bring closer to you what is the most important from tonight’s meeting with Our Lady. Also tonight Our Lady came to us truly happy and joyful. She greeted all of us with Her Motherly greeting,
‘Praised be Jesus my dear children.’ After that She extended Her arms and prayed over all of us present here in Her Aramaic language for a longer time. She then prayed especially for awhile over the sick present here and you, the youth. Then Our Lady said:

“Dear children, also today I rejoice with you in this time of grace, especially I rejoice when I see so many of my children who are happy through these days. I call you, dear children, to pray through this time for peace. Pray for peace. May peace begin to reign in man’s heart. May my Son come to dwell in your hearts to bring you peace because He is your peace. I am praying, dear children, and am interceding for all of you before my Son. That is why, you also persevere in prayer. Do not be afraid. Just continue to pray. Thank you, dear children, on your perseverance and thank you for also today having responded to my call.”

Then Our Lady blessed all of us with Her Motherly blessing, and She also blessed everything you brought to be blessed. I recommended all of you, all of your needs, your intentions, and your families, and especially the sick, and in a special way all of the youth who are present here at this festival in our parish. After that Our Lady continued to pray over all of us here and left in that prayer, in an illuminated Sign of the Cross, with a greeting,
‘Go in peace my dear children.’ This is a summary of what would be the most important from tonight’s meeting with Our Lady. Thank you.”

Sunset at Ivan's apparition August 4, 2014

The sun set in Medjugorje todayd, before the night apparition of the Mother of God.  Our Lady said on August 25, 1995, “…let your morning begin with Morning Prayer, and the evening end with thanksgiving…” This is not a difficult thing to do when in Medjugorje, especially on days when Our Lady ends the day with an apparition during Ivan’s prayer group. The apparition was at 11:00 p.m. and it was well past midnight before most pilgrims returned to their rooms. What a peaceful sleep is theirs who end their day with the blessing of Our Lady upon them.

Sunset in Medjugorje August 4, 2014

Even while darkness begins to settle over the village of Medjugorje, the brightness of the light of the fading sun encompasses the sky, bathing it in its golden hues. Though night will fall again, we know that the sun has not stopped shining, but rather is lighting up another place upon the earth. The darkness in our spiritual lives is the same—faith tells us that the light of God’s love has not deserted us, but is absent for the purpose of moving us towards growth even in times of darkness and uncertainty. Our Lady is teaching us to have confidence in the love of God in all circumstances. She said on September 25, 1999:

“…now when it is being said that God is far away, He has truly never been nearer to you. I call you to renew prayer in your families by reading the Sacred Scripture and to experience joy in meeting with God who infinitely loves His creatures…”

What do we believe about God’s love in the darkest night? There were three lines found scratched into a wall at Auschwitz:

“I believe in the sun, even when it is not shining.
I believe in love, even when I feel it not.
I believe in God, even when He is silent.”

May it be so for every one of us who have been attending the school of holiness under the direction of Our Lady.

Barefoot Pilgrim climbing at Ivan's apparition August 4, 2014

We live in a time when the smallest discomfort, inconvenience, or forced sacrifice sends a stream of complaints out of our mouths; so dependent are we upon the comforts of this modern-day world. Our Lady, on the other hand, calls us to renunciation:

May 25, 1990

“… I am with you and I desire to help you to grow in renunciation and mortification that you may be able to understand the beauty of the life of people, who go on giving themselves to me in a special way. Dear children, God blesses you day after day and desires a change of your life. Therefore, pray that you may have the strength to change your life…”

In Medjugorje, it is common to see people going up and down the mountains barefoot—a difficult sacrifice for many, but done with the heart out of love for Our Lady. It is the beginning, for many, of discovering “the beauty of the life of people, who go on giving themselves to me”. Renunciation gives strength to change your life.

Pilgrims in Medjugorje at Ivan's apparition August 4, 2014

Streams of pilgrims made their way to Our Lady tonight. In Our Lady’s message Our Lady told us tonight:

“Do not be afraid. Just continue to pray.…”

We need not be afraid near the Mother, though the world around us may be falling apart. Just this past August 2, a Friend of Medjugorje wrote:

“…Our Lady’s messages put into life often leads to destruction in some way or another in one’s life and/or mission. We’ve termed it here, at Caritas, “construction through destruction.” There are steps we have had to take in our lives because of the messages that by all appearances were not good. Even while not understanding what the negative consequences would be, we knew by following Our Lady’s way of life it would lead to a successful conclusion…”

Apparition Mountain at night on August 4, 2014

Apparition Mountain is seen here against the dark of the night sky, illuminated only by the lights along the path. It is against the world’s wisdom to be here after dark, on a summer night when one could easily be enjoying oneself with a worldly pleasure. Why such a sacrifice to climb a mountain and pray? Yet, Our Lady calls us: the youth, the old, the married and single, all to be Hers. If we have love in our hearts, no sacrifice is too great for us. On July 8, 2014 Medjugorje Ivan said:

“These are the words of the Blessed Mother, ‘Dear children, if you want to go in this school of prayer you have to know that in this school there are no weekends, no holidays.’ Simply, everyday for the rest of our lives, we have to go into that school. And if you want to prayer better, you have to pray more, because to pray more is always your personal decision and to pray better is the grace, the grace that our God can give to those who pray more in the first place. Often today we say we do not have time to pray. We are very busy, so much to do. We are engaged in all these things and it seems that this is the problem – to find time to pray. But the Blessed Mother says to us all in a simple way, ‘Dear children, do not say that the problem is the lack of time, because the problem is the lack of love. Because you know, dear children, always when you meet somebody or something you find time for that. If you do not like somebody or something, there is never time. Therefore, you see, if there is love, everything is possible.’”

  1. Thank You Queen of Heaven! Mother your words of love are so beautiful! Affectionate! We were praying for peace of the world, please pray with us for not to come the 3rd world war. Mother, the people who want war may fight, but there are innocent people who are are suffering, specially small children! Please protect them.

  2. I love the messages we are given and the translations of the visionaries, and of course by our “friend”. I think of it as being the road we must follow each and every day, or at least as much as possible. The rewards are far beyond our worldly imaginations.

The sayings from Our Lady are so beautiful it has lifted me tonight as I was feeling very down as I suffer from depression. Thank you so much!

THE message our Blessed Mother gives is not to ever lose faith or hope in the darkness as it is in that darkness that SHE OUR mother AND JESUS, our Father is ever so near to us and watching over us.
