Monday, July 16, 2007 – There are two Blue Crosses at the site of the apparition. This is a picture of the original Blue Cross which was the only one for many years. Our Lady appeared countless times over the years on this spot, beginning in the very first year of the apparitions.
A heat wave hit Medjugorje today and the forecast says that it will continue on through the week. Because of the heat, dryness has aided in several fires breaking out on the mountains surrounding Medjugorje. As we walked to the Blue Cross tonight for Our Lady’s apparition, you could see and smell the smoke from fires that had been burning a good part of the afternoon with the flames becoming more and more visible as night fell.
Following is Ivan’s description of the apparition this evening:
The Blue Cross is barely detectable in this picture, as are the many thousands of pilgrims that are packed around it. Any late arrivals are relegated to the outer fringes around the Blue Cross. We were blessed with another beautiful sunset that was soon replaced with a star-filled night sky.
“Tonight when Our Lady came She was very, very happy. She greeted us by saying “Praised be Jesus my dear children.” Our Lady then prayed for a long time with Her hands extended over us. She then blessed us all with Her Motherly Blessing. Our Lady especially prayed for all the sick present here tonight. I recommended all of your petitions, your families, and especially for the sick. Tonight, Our Lady especially prayed for vocations in the Church. I prayed with Our Lady an Our Father and Glory Be. And then Our Lady left saying “Go in peace my dear children.”
