Are You Tired From the Journey?

Are You Tired From the Journey?

July 2, 2015 A.D.

Our Lady Queen of Peace of Medjugorje’s July 2, 2015
Apparition and Message Given through Mirjana on the Day for Nonbelievers

Pilgrims began arriving in the evening of July 1st at around 5:00 p.m. in order to prepare all night for Our Lady’s coming and have the opportunity to peer into Mirjana’s eyes during Our Lady’s apparition. The hot day did not give way to the cool mountain air until about 11:00 p.m. Rosaries were prayed throughout the night without ceasing in several different languages.

Mirjana arrived smiling, but entered quickly into the seriousness of the prayer. Our Lady appeared at approximately 8:30 a.m. The apparition lasted approximately 4 minutes. A demoniac began screaming just a few feet away from Mirjana just before Our Lady appeared and was joined by two others during the apparition.

Our Lady blessed everybody and all the religious articles that we brought for blessing. The following is Our Lady’s message through Mirjana given today:

“Dear children, I am calling you to spread the faith in my Son – your faith. You, my children illuminated by the Holy Spirit, my apostles, transmit it to others – to those who do not believe, who do not know, who do not want to know – but for that you must pray a lot for the gift of love, because love is the mark of true faith – and you will be apostles of my love. Love always, anew, revives the pain and the joy of the Eucharist, it revives the pain of the Passion of my Son, by which He showed you what it means to love immeasurably; it revives the joy for having left you His body and blood to feed you with Himself – and in this way, to be one with you. Looking at you with tenderness, I feel immeasurable love which strengthens me in my desire to bring you to a firm faith. Firm faith will give you joy and happiness on earth and in the end the encounter with my Son. This is His desire. Therefore, live Him, live love, live the light that always illuminates you in the Eucharist. I implore you to pray a lot for your shepherds, to pray so as to have all the more love for them because my Son gave them to you to feed you with His body and to teach you love. Therefore, also you are to love them. But, my children, remember, love means to endure and to give, and never, ever to judge. Thank you.”

Are You Tired From the Journey?

by A Friend of Medjugorje

The following epistle from A Friend of Medjugorje was originally written in June 2001. It speaks of events going on in that time, pre-September 11, right before the towers fell. Place yourself back in that place and time as you read the following, remembering where the world was at the turn of the century before so much evil entered the world. Though A Friend of Medjugorje wrote this 15 years ago, much of what Our Lady said in Her July 2, 2015 message is reflected in this writing. Yet, now we are “older and wiser” because of the events lived through over the past 15 years. A Friend of Medjugorje often says, “Knowing the past will help us know the future.” Though we are still in the winter of our purification, a springtime awaits us if we follow Our Lady’s guidance—have a firm faith and love.

Nearing the end of their travels through the desert, the Israelites, God’s chosen people, encountered yet another trial. Along their way to Atharim, the Canaanite King of Arad heard that the Israelites were coming, so he engaged them in battle and took some of them captive. Israel then made this vow to the Lord: “If you deliver this people into my hand, I will doom their cities.” Later, when the Lord heeded Israel’s prayer and delivered up the Canaanites, they doomed them and their cities. (Numbers 21:2-3)

Immediately, the Israelites continued on from Mount Hor on the Red Sea road. “But with their patience worn out by the journey, the people complained against God and Moses, ‘Why have you brought us up from Egypt to die in this desert where there is no food or water? We are disgusted with this wretched food!’” (Numbers 21:5)

What is truly amazing is that the wretched food, about which the Israelites were complaining, was the supernatural gift of bread that fell from Heaven for forty years called Manna. On top of it all, they were complaining against God directly after He had heard their prayers and given them the victory over the Canaanites. “What ungratefulness!” we remark. But are we much different when we examine our consciences? Regrettably, human nature tends to be the same throughout the course of history unless we reflect on it and learn from past errors. Just seven months ago, Our Lady announced a victory to us over the enemy.

August 25, 2000

“Dear children! I desire to share my joy with you. In my Immaculate Heart I feel that there are many of those who have drawn closer to me and are, in a special way, carrying the victory of my Immaculate Heart in their hearts by praying and converting. I desire to thank you and to inspire you to work even more for God and His kingdom with love and the power of the Holy Spirit…”

She tells us not only that there are many who are carrying the victory of Her Immaculate Heart in their hearts by praying and converting, but that She inspires us to work even more for God and His Kingdom.

Yet, if we look through prayer at the profoundness of the messages at the next six monthly messages, we see a common message within these messages. Our Lady seems to be hinting that we have become tired and lost our joy in prayer or maybe have never found that joy.

“…May prayer become a joy for you…” (September 25, 2000)

“…I call you to pray, pray, pray until prayer becomes a joy for you…” (October 25, 2000)

“…I pray for all of you for joy to be born in your hearts…” (December 25, 2000)

“…Today I call you to renew prayer and fasting with even greater enthusiasm until prayer becomes a joy for you…” (January 25, 2001)

And again just last month on April 25, 2001:

“Dear children! Also today, I call you to prayer. Little children, prayer works miracles. When you are tired and sick and you do not know the meaning of your life, take the Rosary and pray; pray until prayer becomes for you a joyful meeting with your Savior…”

The words “until,” “become,” and “to be born” signify that we have not yet reached the point of fulfilling something. So, at the moment, we are lacking something. The fulfillment will only come through believing what Our Lady says and persevering to get there.

While we may not be on the same physical trek across the desert as the Israelites or fighting physical hand to hand wars, we certainly are in the same boat spiritually. As we are God’s chosen people of this day and age, we have Our Lady as our “greater than” Moses leader. Certainly our trials and battles are no less critical and fatiguing spiritually than those of our brothers from the past. Our Lady, like Moses, continues to encourage and exhort us to keep up the fight even though we are worn down by the journey.

It is good to stop and reflect on the hope that lies in front of us by retracing just what has happened in the past two and a half years. The year 1999 was spent in great anticipation and excitement of the upcoming Jubilee Year, simultaneously with all the anticipation, fears, and preparations for the possible Y2K happenings. The year 2000 brought in all the excitement of a new millennium, a year of unlimited mercy and pardon. There were great victories. And despite all the hubbub that the media and many others had created concerning the possible Y2K calamities, it passed in silence without a problem. It had left many wondering, “What really does the future hold?” With such an expectation passing, it can lead to a sort of complacency. Yet God’s ways are not our ways. As the Scriptures state, God’s ways are as high above ours as the heavens are from the earth, and that God’s foolishness is wiser than the wisest man. He does not act according to what the media forecasts or according to what man may forebode. His messenger for our times and the future is Our Lady. So what was God’s reaction to all of this? Strangely enough, after January 1, 2000, when Y2K failed to materialize worldwide, Our Lady came the very next day on January 2nd, and told the world words directly from God, conveyed through His messenger, Mary, which said:

“Pray and wait.”

These words, given the day after the greatly anticipated catastrophe that never occurred, carry great significance. Praying people everywhere have sensed a forthcoming intervention of God on the horizon for some time now, and for many not standing on solid ground and/or, in particular, God’s words through His messenger (Our Lady) has led to a complacency in many thoughts that God is not going to act.

We do not forecast a future of gloom and doom because, for the believer, there is great hope for the future. Yet, we do know something great is on the horizon. A future which Our Lady has just recently spoken of in September of 2000, just six months ago:

October 25, 2000

“…I desire to renew prayer with you and to call you to fast which I desire to offer to my Son Jesus for the coming of a new time – a time of spring…”

Throughout Church history and Salvation history, we can easily observe that different “springtimes” have only come about after the purification of a “winter.” Much de-emphasis has been put on the ten secrets of which Our Lady has foretold of in Medjugorje. While we should not dwell on them in fear, we should re-awaken and realize that they are realities of which Our Lady has spoken, and the impulses they offer for our good. The secrets are a part of the future. Yet as Our Lady just said nearly a year ago:

June 25, 2000

“…The one who prays is not afraid of the future…”

The real question then is, “Are we really still praying?” “Are we persevering in prayer until prayer becomes a joy?” If not, then we are in danger of it becoming a rigor that may cause us to decrease our prayers or possibly quit altogether.

We are hearing from many of you who have been going through the desert and the battles. For us here, when the desert comes, we dig in and go more deeply into prayer. It has come, for all of us, through hatred from unexpected places, misunderstandings, illnesses, jealousies and a host of other reasons. But what else can we expect when we have words given straight from Heaven on the first day of this year?

January 1, 2001

“…Now that when satan is unchained…”

These difficulties are not necessarily bad if we can turn and see them for what they truly are—purification –our winter before spring.

The Almighty sent serpents to bite those who complained against Him persistently and unrepentantly in the desert. Yet he sent a remedy as well for the poison. When the afflicted people called out for Moses to go to God on their behalf, he did so and returned with that remedy. They must repent and look upon the bronze serpent upon the pole and be healed. This action of Moses was of course the pre-figurement of Jesus being lifted up on the cross and taking on the figure of the serpent, our sins, so that He would take the punishment that we deserved. The remedy for us today is no less the same.

March 25, 1997

“…Today, in a special way, I invite you to take the cross in the hands and to meditate on the wounds of Jesus. Ask of Jesus to heal your wounds, which you, dear children, during your life sustained because of your sins or the sins of your parents…”

While many may feel that their sufferings are not the result of any sin of their own but as the direct sin of another, still it is God who has allowed that suffering, and not at all because God wants us to suffer. He does not. Everything has to be allowed by His hand because much of our suffering is a result of ours or other’s behavior. We, on our part, must recognize that and turn all suffering and evil into good. Use it for our own purification and for the reversal of the situations.

May 25, 1988

“…I want you to love all men with my love, both the good and the bad. Only that way will love conquer the world…”

After stopping to reflect on the past, we must regroup and begin again to renew prayer and love in our lives and recognize the hope of what the future holds. A new time—a springtime is coming without a doubt according to Our Lady’s own words from Heaven. Even in the midst of our ongoing battles and desert experiences, we can prepare for this time.

Mirjana July 2, 2015

Despite the heavy cross the visionaries carry, they always show joy on their faces, as Mirjana does this morning, July 2, 2015, greeting pilgrims as she makes her way to the Blue Cross for her apparitions. A Friend of Medjugorje states:

“If you go back and read [Our Lady’s] messages, you will see that when She mentions the past or the future She points us to ‘joy’. Joy is a ‘present tense’ word. We are to live ‘joy’ ‘today.’ Our past sinful lives can rob us of the joy God wants our hearts to be filled with today. Our fear of the future can do the same. Our Lady wants both our ‘today’ and our ‘future’ to be filled with joy and has come to teach us how that can happen in our lives. We must follow and listen to Her, believe in Her words, obey them and wait for them to transform our lives.”

Hvala vam.”
