(Caritas of Birmingham, Alabama) – This morning it was announced that Caritas of Birmingham will be closed to visiting pilgrims until April 17. At that time, a determination will be made whether to extend the time-period of the closure.

On March 27, 2020, Alabama Governor Kay Ivey extended the statewide closures due to the coronavirus, to other areas including popular tourist attractions. The statewide closures are extended until April 17, at which time an evaluation will be made by state health officials on whether to extend the closures. Though Caritas does not fall directly under the categories of those ordered to close, for the safety of pilgrims, Caritas of Birmingham has voluntarily closed to visiting pilgrims. The Diocese of Birmingham also voluntarily closed their public Masses several weeks ago. What does this mean? Following are several guidelines about Caritas of Birmingham:

1. The mission of Caritas will continue to operate at full capacity, filling orders, answering phones and taking prayer requests. People are encouraged to call with prayer needs. See contact information below, or make a prayer request here.

2. The daily prayer schedules will continue to be maintained by the Community of Caritas.

3. Local Alabamians who were planning to visit are encouraged to drive by the Field and offer a prayer. (See a Friend of Medjugorje’s statement below.)

4. Caritas asks that people continue to support the mission with their prayers and financial tithes. The mission will still be operating at full throttle, even though it will be closed to visitors.

A Friend of Medjugorje, founder and director of Caritas of Birmingham stated:

“The mission of Caritas will continue to operate at full capacity. Prayer is primary in our life. I have maintained since starting Caritas that the only thing we have to be successful at is prayer, everything else will be successful. Therefore, our daily prayer schedules will still be maintained as will always be. Our Lady of Medjugorje told visionary Marija Lunetti (Pavlovic), that from the Field, She would intercede before God for all our intentions. We encourage those who were planning to visit, to drive by the Field. You can park off the white line on the road and pray one Hail Mary for Our Lady to intercede for God’s will concerning this virus. We will also continue to answer the phones and are taking prayer requests, especially for those sick, and those who are scared at this time. Our Lady has repeatedly said, ‘Do not be afraid.’

This Press Release will be updated and superceded by another statement, prior to April 17, as a determination will be made on the time-frame of the closure. Those with questions are encouraged to contact Caritas at the information below.

Well...Marjia said, "We have to think what is he planning to do?" Medjugorje is desolate. Our Masses are shut down....and now Caritas too. We have to do what we have to do to protect each other...but I hope we will all rise when it's time to say, "Enough is enough!" Our Lady said satan is's looking like She was right! I'd like to pose a question...if the church doors opened tomorrow...would you be there? I'm DONE with being afraid! It's time to stand! I'll go to Mass with my mask, hand sanitizer and sit 6 feet away...whatever! I know this virus is real. I think it's less than what was planned for us. But, Our Lady has told us several times RECENTLY, "Do not be afraid!" I pray for all of us. And I pray that he does NOT win. We can't let him win! How many saints died from the plagues of their time? Is he not reigning now? No one receiving sacraments! No one able to go to Mass and receive THE KING OF KINGS! I've had my melt down already. Now, I'm ready to STAND!

Sandra, a Friend of Medjugorje said that we will be happy to do that. Look for it in the next couple of days, and you can make your spiritual pilgrimage.

For those of us not able to physically visit the Field during this particular time, would you please consider posting a picture from the roadway looking towards the Field so we may make a spiritual pilgrimage there to pray? May Our Lady continue to guide us all during this time of transformation. Thank you and may God Bless you, this nation and the world.

Please say a prayer for all of us, still having to work. God Bless everyone, and don't forget, if you wanted to go underwater, you'd use SCUBA or a submarine......if you wanted to fly, you'd take a plane. If you leave it entirely up to God to keep you safe.....You'd then be, Testing God.....Don't forget, that happens to be one of the 10 Commandments, so please put your life in God's hands, but also remember He gave you, Common Sense as well.

God Bless Caritas! Thank you for all your efforts, prayers, novenas, writings and events to help prepare us for this time. Please know that our family prays for each of you as well. Thank you for all the updates to the website you did years ago. As always, Friend of Mej. had a clear vision of what was coming and knew it was needed. We look forward to all the shows and writings that will come and strengthen us. Just wondering, if it would be possible to have a candle placed on the field?
